09 Aug 2015Open house August-September 2015. Sanshukan Kendo club is open throughout the summer weeks and extends a welcome to any kendoka wishing to train with us. Our two resident 7th Dan sensei will be in attendance so this is a great opportunity for all, particularly those whose regular dojo is on a summer shutdown. Session times are Thursdays 8:30 to 10:15, guest fees are waived over this period. See the home page for location details, plenty of free on-site parking is available. Please contact us via the links page or our facebook group to let us know rough numbers a day or so in advance if possible.
02 Feb 2015Massive congratulations to our sensei John O'Sullivan on passing his 7th Dan grading over the weekend. The grade is a fantastic acheivement and testament to everything that sensei has put into kendo over many years. Everyone at Reading and Sanshukan Kendo clubs are delighted for him, and proud to call him sensei.

16 Dec 2014OPEN SESSIONS OVER HOLIDAY PERIOD. As Xmas day/New Years day fall on Thursdays this year Sanshukan will be hosting OPEN kendo sessions on TUESDAY 23rd Dec and TUESDAY 30th Dec. Sessions are 20:30-22:15 and will be led by Geoff Salmon sensei (nanadan kyoshi) and John O'Sullivan sensei (rokudan renshi) - Guests are welcome to join us, free of charge. 12 Jul 2014Congratulations to Pip Cox on reaching third place in this weekend's Premier's Cup! The club was well represented at the event, with everyone who took part scoring ippon and winning at least one match. Pip fought very well on the day, making short work of a nito opponent and his sempai on the way, before eventually losing the sem-final to a 4th Dan - well done Pip.

02 Jan 2012Change of session hours. Owing to Kings College taking a booking imediately prior to ours, club session times will move to 8:15-10:15pm, effective from 5th Jan 2012. The additional booking is short term and we hope to revert to our original times later this year.

06 Dec 2011At last - some good taikai news! At this weekend's Oxford Cup two club members did themselves and the club proud. Congratulations to Waqas Khan on winning the kyu-grades competition, and to Darren Page for winning the Fighting Spirit Award and coming 4th.
02 Dec 2011Sanshukan Kendo Club wishes to congratulate Geoff Salmon sensei on achieving the shogo grade of Kyoshi, and O'Sullivan sensei on achieving Renshi. Salmon sensei has also been selected to referee the 15th Kendo World Championships in Novara, Italy.
Our kendo club is honoured and privileged to receive tuition and support from such esteemed leadership, these awards are justified recognition of the work our senseis continue to put into UK kendo.

5 Aug 2011WE ARE MOVING! From Thursday 1st September we are permanently moving dojos to Kings International College, Watchetts Drive, Camberley, GU15 2PQ, session times change to 8pm-10pm

Until 25th Aug 2011 (inclusive) sessions will continue to run at our old dojo The Mytchett Centre, 140 Mytchett Road, Mytchett GU16 6AA from 8:15pm to 10:15pm
12 Dec 2010 Mytchett Kendo club will be having a "Christmas Pudding" open practice on Thursday 30 December at 20:15-22:15 and would like to invite all fellow kendoka to join us. Senior kendoka attending include Salmon sensei and O'Sullivan sensei, and we are expecting others. There is no compulsory session fee but there will be a collection pot for voluntary donations towards the hall fees.
